  • still sick?

Finally getting better from yucky sickness but I am still struggling.  My birthday just passed (hooray!) but almost no one mentioned it.  :(   And then my sister is having a really hard time financially and is going through a horrible and expensive custody case which doesn't help.  so just a a hard week.  Please pray for me.

  • I was sitting home talking to Kris today.  I wish she did not live so far away.  Right now they are in Florida so they are even further away than normal.  Anyway, after we hung up I realised I smelled smoke.  I had opened up the house since it was such a nice day.  some of you may not know I work nights so at 4pm I am still in my jammies.  Back to the smoke.  I checked the whole house and then stepped out onto my front step.  I could see billows of smoke from somewhere behind my neighbors (across the street).  My first thought was - "well, crap.  I am going to have to put on pants and go make sure everything is ok"  My sister lives very close to that area.  So I throw on clothes and run over and in fact, there was a brush fire starting to get a  real rage going.  Another neighbor had called 911 and very soon the firetruck came screeching 'round the bend and put out the fire.  Excitement.

Then I talked to my mom - who has shingles. a very bad case of shingles.   great.  poor mommy.  I might be flying out to spend some time out there.  good news - I have 10 days off in a row from work.  So I have the time to lend a hand.

Now I am at the 1/2 price bookstore (with free wifi) and am going to browse until I am so full of books I explode.  fun.

  • Computers make me very frustrated.  I choose not to have the internet in my house and I don't mind for the most part but this computer's internet connection is slower than molasses in December!  Also, emails do not simplify my life.  Besides all the spam mail (i just erase)   when I email a person I figure they should immediatly email me back.  if I wait a few days and don't have an answer I think that something must be wrong on their end.  Oh no!  Then I realise people have lives that do not include emailing me as their number one priority (not naming names but perhaps my mom . . . ) so then I feel all better.  :p

These time saving devices just make us more impatient and rude.  sigh.  ok, I am all better now, thanks for letting me share.

And I think I have my pillsbury bakeoff recipe finished and can submit it by the end of the week!  woohoo!

I'm off to Lowes to buy tile to tile a counter top and hopefully paint some cabinets.  I did have such a massive migrane at work yesterday that today I am still suffering migrane hangover.  no fun indeed.  It's cold and rainy so perhaps after Lowes (and  a side trip to walmart for large padded envelopes) I'll go home and curl up with a good book and a cup of tea.

or perhaps I'll move somewhere near the ocean.  that sounds nice.

please pray that I'll find a part time job possibly at an optometrist's office.  I have always wanted to be an optometrists tech!  really. and here is my chance!

off to the store!  (you can't  see my cape but it is flying in a very lovely breeze behind me:)  )

  • Sunday, lovely Sunday.

I got up and went out to church and had a yummy lunch at Boston Market.  Then I hopped *(literaly.  I am talented) to our used bookstore Bookmans and found 3 books to buy!  One is Experiencing God by Henry Blackaby and I was excited.  Then to my utter amazement, they were having a buy 2 get 1 free paperback special so I looked around and got one more book - for free!
Now I am back at my dad's.  I'll feed the dogs and head home for a bath and a nap. I just got a farscape episode from netflix yesterday so I think the rest of my day is set!

The weather here is yummy and I won't mention what it is because I want to keep my friends.
